Country 1, City 2, day 4 -- Hawaii
Kathy and Pat arrived early so we had time to catch lunch in the airport. Then hang out...
Interesting to hear the Hawaiian language on every announcement in-flight and in the terminal. Then passengers en route to Maui speaking Hawaiian. There's clearly a strong effort to preserve and expand local language and culture.
Our Maui condo is right on the beach. The gardens are beautiful. Warm weather, nice sun, soft breeze. Amazing...
Pat was on the beach at sunset and captured a few photos.
And there is a swimming pond in the ocean with some interesting sculpture. A scuba diver and a shark.
Today's one negative is that Kathy is coming down with some illness. She had a headache all yesterday, more today. And as the day has worn on she's feeling worse and worse. Now she has a fever, dry mouth, headache, stomach feels off. Seems like the flu, though we got vaccinated just a month ago.
Tomorrow is a beach day, so hopefully she can recover enough to not miss much. I feel so sorry for her. She feels that vacation is just not starting well, between the LA fires and getting sick. Me .. I think I may sleep on the couch to reduce chances of catching it.
Like I said the other day, we are the wrong people to go around the world in this direction. Here it is 8:15 PM and I'm considering going to bed. Come on, people!
