Day 12, Jan 20/21: Travel day to Sydney

Day 12, Country 2, City 4.

Today we cover Jan 20&21 thanks to crossing the international dateline. That makes for a much shorter inauguration day which is the only benefit I can see for it.

It's also the first time Kathy and I have been to the southern hemisphere. Yay!

Even though the trip crosses only three time zones, we fly so far south that it takes 10 hours.

We had a big line at 6AM at the Jetstar ticket counter. It's a good thing we got there two hours before flight time (not my idea)!!

We did not realize that part of the cheap ticket price is no on-board meal service. Kathy had thankfully ordered meals ahead of time or we would have lived from our water bottles for lunch and dinner time.

Nice flight, smooth air, easy landing and travel to the Airbnb via train and light rail. Sydney seems well set up for transit and biking.

The Airbnb is a dump however. One A/C mini split for the 2BR 2BA apartment. Expecting 94° tomorrow. Minimal furniture and zero decorating. Not even an ice cube tray in the freezer. And only two towels for a 2BR 2BA unit. Huh??

And the host got frantic trying to contact Kathy as we were flying to Sydney. Kathy finally got his messages after we had arrived at the apartment complex and asked at the front desk. "We don't allow Airbnb here, it's against the law." No wonder he was frantic. Well Mike, you could reach out earlier than the travel day of arrival! As long as they only bust him and we don't get interrupted.

All these people in one plane??

We cross the equator and soon to cross the dateline. Plane does not even flip upside down!
We can see Australia from here!
